About the Hotel
The Inn
The Marcopolo Inn nestles in the delighted Upper Hunza Valley (Gojal) surrounded by breathtaaking views of mountain peaks and glaciers. located in the ancient village of Gulmit, it is on the ancient Silk Route. Only 150 Kms from Gilgit, it is conveniently accessible from the Karakoram Highway.
The Guest Rooms
The Inn's restaurants and buildings, constructed by Raja Bahadur khan (grandson of Mir Mohammad Nazeem Khan, KCIE, KCSL and the ruler of Hunza from 1892-1938) reflect a traditional style of architecture. The Inn offers twenty five clean and comfortable rooms with wall-to-wall carpets, en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water that is from a nearby mountain spring. All the rooms face and lead our onto garden lawns with apricot trees, an ancient walnut tree and flower blossoms.
The Inn offers captivating views of the mighty Karakoram peaks including Topek Dan, Fulful Peak, the Shatabar glacier and the Hunza river.
Dining
The restaurant provides a traditional and elegant atmosphere and offers the guests a wide selection of local and continental dishes cocked by expert chefs. Delicacies include traditional pancakes served with mulberry syrup as well as strawbwrries. Fresh local fruit is readily available in spring and summer an can be picked from the garden.

General Info
Gulmit offers a hospitable atmosphere of traditional Wakhi culture. The Wakhis of Gojal Valley claim to have migrated fom the Wakhan corridor. The Mir of Hunza had his winter capital in Gulmit and the tomb of Salim Khan III (1790-1824) is founded here in the old part of the village, with old houses. Gulmit has a simple bazar with basic amenities. It's scenic mountainenvironment offers relaxation, short walks and longer treks, particularly two-day treks into alpine pastures.

Pleasant summers and cool during springs and autumn. The winter tends to be cold.

The official language is Urdu but English is spoken widely. The local language is Wakhi.
Activities
Gulmit offers beautiful and spectacular short walks to Kamaris, Andhra Fort as well as to the neighbouring village of Ghulkin, and longer walks over the Ghulkin glacier to Borith lake. At Gulmit, the Hunza river can be crossed over a traditional suspension bridge which leads to Shishkat. Passu and Batura glaciers are located at a distance of only twelve kilometers. The Gulmit museum, full of traditional ethnic artefacts is part of the Marcopolo Inn. Local festivals are celebrated seasonally within the village. with traditional musicians and dancers. Jeeps can be hired for a day trip to the Khunjerab National Park where Maracopolo sheep can be viewed.
Walks:
Gulmit offers beautiful and apectacular short walks to Kamris, Andhra and Gulkin as well as long walks over the Gulkin glacier to Borith Lake.

About Us
Marcopolo Inn reflects the grace and elegance of royal family of Hunza. It was founded by Raja Bahadur Khan, grandson of Mir Nazeem Khan (KCIE, KCSL), the ruler of Hunza from 1892 to 1938. Raja Hussain Ali Khan son of Raja Bahadur Khan is the present General Manager of Marcopolo Inn.
